Description
Also known as the Money Tree, Guiana Chestnut, Malabar Chestnut, is a tree native to Central and South America. It ranks as among the easiest plants to grow, up to 24″ a year, and can mature at about 6’to 8′.
A Money Tree in feng shui is believed to attract wealth and prosperity when placed in specific areas of your home, particularly the southeast corner, known as the “money area.” In folklore it is said to have saved a man from being poor by providing him nuts that he was able to sell.

Pachira Aquatica likes a fair amount of indirect to bright sunlight, about half a day's worth.
They enjoy a medium amount of water, so water if the soil feels dry. The soil needs to have good drainage. It's also recommended to add a little peat moss to the soil.
Use a good general purpose fertilizer about once a month during spring and summer, and about every other month for the rest of the year.
These plants will top out in the house and small gardens at about 6'to 8', and can maintain there for about 10 year. Outside and next to a water source such as a river or lake they can grow to 75 feet!
Pachira Aquatica are safe for pets and people. If grown outside, they can produce a seed pod sometimes called a "football" because of it's shape, and it will contain nuts whose taste has been compared to peanuts.
